Our STORY

Open Pasture Meats is a family-owned online butcher with a mission to deliver safe, healthy and holistic food to everyone’s table.

I’m Robert, owner and operator of Open Pasture Meats. My wife Lynn and I began the journey to holistic health many years ago. As busy parents and professionals—Lynn a CFO and me an entrepreneur-- we found ourselves like many others, unhealthy and overweight. One day after struggling to keep up with the children at playtime, Lynn took the first steps to address our bad habits. She left corporate America and began taking fitness classes and changing the way our family ate. Lynn’s commitment led to remarkable weight loss and a path to certified fitness instructor and Master Personal Trainer.

Our new commitment to eating healthier meant spending hours at multiple grocery stores in search of the best food. Frustrated by the process (and after watching Food, Inc.), I began pouring through USDA, FDA and CDC material and meeting with grocery store buyers to understand the agri-business model. What I discovered is that what I thought I was buying was not all as it seemed. Our next steps were simple. We planted a raised bed garden at our home. We followed with bees and a small backyard chicken flock for eggs. Later we added fruit trees and grapes. Ultimately, I found a way to bring my family clean, local grass fed beef, chicken and wild caught seafood through slow, thoughtful acquisition and sourcing.
